Gill Fifield was a Bridport Town councillor for four years from 2003 to 2007 when she stood down because of familiy committments. She is proud of her local connections – her great-grandfather lived in Bridport and all her father’s family come from the Dorset/Somerset area. “Bridport is a wonderful town to live in – full of clubs, societies and events all year round. I was proud to be a councillor there and implement Lib Dem policies.”
A retired lecturer with a background in survey techniques she has used her knowledge to undertake several surveys for Bridport including one on parking and traffic congestion; another on the use of the open spaces in Bridport; and a third on the views of the public on a play area at West Bay. She has campaigned on many local issues, to reduce speeding, keep the town centre toilets and provide more facilities for young people.
She is a volunteer with Charmouth Heritage Centre and a member of Bridport Environment Group and WATAG (Western Area Transport Action Group).
